A tragic incident occurred during the preparations for Karma festival on Friday, in which two girls died due to drowning in the dam. This incident has sent a wave of mourning in the entire area. The deceased girls have been identified as 12-year-old daughter of Manu Hansda and 12-year-old daughter of Naresh Murmu. According to the information received, both the girls had gone to Belatand Dam with their friends to collect flowers for Karma Puja.

The family members are crying in a bad state

The incident happened when dozens of girls from Jiruhuriya village had gone to the Belatand dam, about two and a half kilometers away from their homes, to pluck flowers for the preparations of Karma festival. Flowers are collected from the forest around the dam for Karma festival. According to local people, some girls were trying to pluck flowers by going into the water inside the dam. During this time, two girls went into deep water and died by drowning.

Seeing both the girls drowning in the water, the other girls ran to the village and informed the people. On receiving the information, the villagers rushed to the spot and pulled both the girls out of the water, but by then both had died. On receiving the news of the death of both the girls, the family members are crying inconsolably. The happiness of Karma festival in the village turned into mourning.

Police reached the spot

Police station in-charge Neetu Kumari said that the police has received information about the case. Necessary action is being taken. The administration also came into action after getting information about the incident. The local police reached the spot and took stock of the situation and the bodies of both the girls were taken out from the dam. The police has started investigating the incident and a warning has been issued in the areas around the dam for safety.
