iPhone X With the iPhone X, Apple has made the biggest design change in the ten-year history of the iPhone. As the display now takes up most of the phone’s surface. iPhone 7 Plus In this device with a body smaller than 2.5″ tall, Apple has incorporated a 5.8-inch display which is the largest on any iPhone till date. Apple has used OLED panels for the first time in a smartphone, so that the front display of the iPhone X can attract the eye. At the launch event, Apple said that OLED technology is one of the technologies that delivers the brightness levels, wide colour support and colour accuracy that the company desires. When it comes to specifications, the ‘Super Retina’ display on the iPhone X is great in every respect. The display has a resolution of 1125×2436 pixels, screen density of 458 ppi, Dolby Vision, HDR10, True Tone and one million-to-one contrast ratio. In terms of performance, the iPhone X has the best display of any smartphone we have tried.
Apple has ditched the familiar home button and Touch ID sensor for an all-display front, features that have been a part of the iPhone since its inception. Instead, Face ID has been replaced by a sensor built into the chin of the iPhone. Using a dot projector, an infrared camera, and a flood illuminator, the iPhone X can create a 3D model of your face and works even in the dark. Apple says Face ID can’t be fooled by a photo and won’t work even if you show it a face mask.
However, we were not able to test Face ID using our face while using the phone at the Steve Jobs Theater on Tuesday. Based on the demo shown after the event, we found that the first-generation unlock technology is definitely slower than Touch ID, which is certainly surprising. But perhaps it would be better to compare Face ID with the face-unlock feature of other smartphone manufacturers and Face ID seems to win this test. We will give our final verdict on the iPhone X after going through the detailed process in our review.
One of the fun new features of iPhone X is the TrueDepth camera system that allows you to create Animojis. This feature lets you send emojis in your messages that are your face and voice. It will be interesting to see if Animojis can be reused after being used once. There are also other software features that are unique to iPhone X. For example, to activate Home button actions, you need to swipe up from the bottom edge. To access Multi-tasking view, you need to swipe up and hold. And swiping from the bottom of the chin to the right will open Control Center.
As expected, the iPhone X comes with a lot of new improvements. It has a better camera on the rear with quad-LED True Tone flash. The phone has the fastest A11 Bionic processor ever, stereo speakers, water and dust resistance, and wireless charging. We will be testing these features in the coming days.
