Earth An international group of scientists engaged in the search for life outside the Earth has discovered a new exoplanet. Planets that revolve around some other star, not our Sun, are called exoplanets. A team of international scientists, including researchers from IIT Kanpur, has discovered a ‘super-Jupiter’ exoplanet about 12 light years away from Earth. It is probably one of the coldest planets. Its temperature has been estimated to be two degrees Celsius.

of NDTV Report According to the report, scientists have named it Epsilon Indi Ab, which is colder than any exoplanet. According to the US space agency NASA, the nearest exoplanet to Earth is Proxima Centauri b, which is located at a distance of 4 light years from our planet.

The special thing is that the picture of Epsilon Indi AB has been captured by NASA’s most powerful James Webb Space Telescope. This picture is also important because as the planets cool down, they become very blurry. It becomes difficult to capture their picture.

Scientists are very excited about exoplanets. They think that there may be a possibility of life in one of them. There are an estimated one billion exoplanets in our galaxy, of which 5 thousand have been confirmed by the US space agency.

Epsilon Indi AB orbits the star Epsilon Indi A. It is called Super Jupiter. Although it is slightly hotter and larger than Jupiter, this is the most similar to Jupiter among all the exoplanets discovered so far. This planet is a little far from its star. Because of this also its temperature is low. Scientists have not been able to gain much information about the atmosphere of this exoplanet. Therefore it cannot be said how much possibility of life there is in it.
