Palestinian health officials said at least 30 people were killed in an Israeli attack on a school in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza. The Israeli army claimed it had targeted a Hamas command center.

Gaza’s health ministry and the Hamas-run media office put the number of people killed in the attack on the school in Deir al-Balah, one of Gaza’s areas with the largest concentration of displaced families, at 30. More than a hundred people were injured in the attack, according to the media office.
The Israeli military (IDF) claimed in a statement that it had targeted a Hamas command and control center inside the Khadija school complex in central Gaza. The statement said the school was being used to attack their soldiers and store weapons. The IDF said it had warned civilians there before the attack.
The injured were taken to Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah by ambulance. Some of the injured also arrived on foot, their clothes soaked in blood.
