The scores from this qualification round or ranking round are used to seed each archer ahead of the direct knockout rounds starting with the Round of 64 in the women’s and men’s individual events. This means that the archer with the highest score (out of 720) will be ranked first and will face the archer with the lowest score in the first knockout round i.e. the Round of 64. That is, in this round, the first-ranked archer will face the 64th-ranked archer, while the second-ranked athlete will face the 63rd-ranked archer. The individual event knockout rounds will begin on July 30 (Tuesday), while the team event knockouts will begin on July 28 (Sunday).
