Iran Chabahar Port : Iran and India made a big deal regarding Chabahar Port in May itself. This deal was done during the tenure of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi. A few days after this, he died in a helicopter crash. Now India has to operate Chabahar Port for 10 years. Although, many countries including America put pressure on India regarding this deal, but the Indian government ignored it. Some announcements were also made regarding this in the general budget that came on Tuesday. The government has allocated Rs 100 crore for Chabahar Port in the budget. This Chabahar port is very important for India. Through this, China will be sidelined. Along with this, Afghanistan will also be influenced by ignoring Pakistan’s Gwadar port.
America gave a big threat immediately after the deal
When this deal was made during the tenure of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, America had threatened it within a few hours. Iran had signed an agreement to run Chabahar Port for 10 years. Soon after this, America had announced the threat of sanctions. America had said that anyone considering some deals with Iran should be aware of the risk of sanctions.
Many more problems will come yet
India has got this deal, but there are still many more hurdles. Because there are many sanctions of America on Iran. This includes blacklisting of Iran by Money Laundering and Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Also, Iran has less access to online payment system. Iran cannot transact in dollars, this is the biggest problem. At the same time, there is a problem in laying the railway line, but after the release of the budget, the Indian government is now going to do a big job.
