Experience shared during hearing in the apex court

Now the question is why did Justice Bhatti make this comment? Actually, the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments had issued guidelines regarding the Kanwar Yatra. It was said in the instructions that the names of the owners of the restaurants located on the Kanwar Yatra route should be written clearly. The Supreme Court has stayed the order of the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments. Justice Rishikesh Roy and Justice SVN Bhatti heard the case in the apex court. During this, Justice Bhatti also shared his experience in Kerala.

What did Justice Bhatti say?

Justice Bhatti said, ‘When I was in Kerala, there was a vegetarian restaurant run by a Hindu. There was another vegetarian restaurant run by a Muslim. I used to go to eat at the vegetarian restaurant run by a Muslim. That Muslim youth had returned from Dubai. International standards were followed by the Muslim youth in terms of hygiene. Therefore, I liked going to that restaurant.’

Notice issued to Uttarakhand-Uttar Pradesh government

During the hearing in the court, lawyer Abhishek Singhvi, who appeared on behalf of Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, said that you choose a restaurant by looking at the menu card and not by looking at the name. In this case, the Supreme Court bench has issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments. The court said that shopkeepers do not need to reveal their names. They should just tell what and what type of food items they have available.
