New Delhi. The first preparation that begins during Navratri is that of the red chunari of Mata. Some get the chunari prepared by placing an order two months before Navratri, while some go to the market a night before the fast and buy a chunari of their means. The price may be different but the devotion is the same. But do you know that not only in the country but also abroad, the red chunari and the dress worn by Mata Rani are prepared in a small town of Vrindavan in UP. This small town prepares chunari ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 20-25 thousand. There is a business of crores of rupees in chunari and dress during Navratri alone.

Red chunri starts being made after Janmashtami
Vrindavan is at the forefront in preparing red chunari and Mata Rani’s dress. All kinds of dresses related to gods and goddesses are prepared here. Awadhesh, who is associated with the work of dress and chunari, tells that immediately after Janmashtami, red chunari, lehenga, patka and other dresses start getting prepared in the factories. If we talk about the chunari prepared during this time, then chunaris are prepared at the rate of 60 rupees per dozen to 2 thousand rupees.

Not only businessmen but devotees also come to place orders
Costume trader Ram Naresh says that traders’ orders for Navratri start coming as soon as Janmashtami orders are completed. But orders from devotees start coming directly one or two months before Navratri. These are the people who get chunaris made according to their faith ranging from 5 to 25 rupees and costumes worth 50-50 thousand rupees. These orders are for the idols of Mata Rani kept in temples made in homes as well as big temples of the country. Actually, in such orders, the cloth does not matter as much as the handwork on the costume and chunari is important.
