Bastar News Today: The torrential rains that have been pouring in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh for the past few days have caused a lot of devastation. Flood-like conditions have arisen in the rural areas. Many villages have lost contact with the district headquarters. The Indravati river is flowing above the danger mark.
Due to continuous rain, Indravati river has reached danger level. Due to which there is a danger of flood in the lower settlements. Rain has caused the most devastation in Bijapur. Bijapur has recorded the highest rainfall in the entire Bastar division. Due to this, flood like conditions prevail here.
Contact with district headquarters lost
More than 40 villages here have lost contact with the district headquarters. Apart from this, rainwater has also filled ashrams and schools. Rainwater is also filling many camps of soldiers deployed on the Naxal front. Apart from Bijapur, rivers and streams are overflowing in Kanker district due to continuous rain.
According to the information, Chavela and Khandi rivers are in spate. Due to which the connection of Kanker headquarters with Durgkondal and Bhanupratappur area has been cut off. It is still raining continuously here, due to which the problem is expected to increase further.
Flood threat from back water
Apart from this, traffic is also affected due to waterlogging on the national highway connecting Chhattisgarh to Telangana and Odisha. However, there is a relief as the back water of the Godavari river has not yet come towards Chhattisgarh.
If the back water comes towards Sukma of Chhattisgarh due to the filling of the Godavari river, then Konta block can once again be affected by floods. At present, a complete alert has been issued here too in view of the possibility of floods.
Water entered the houses in Sukma Bijapur
The worst affected area due to rain is South Bastar. Due to heavy rains in Bijapur and Sukma, more than 100 houses have been flooded. Many roads have been submerged, due to which traffic has been affected and water is visible everywhere.
SDRF and Disaster Management Alerts
If the gate of Indravati river is opened from Kolab Dam of Orissa, then more than half of the area of Bastar district will be affected by flood. Although there is no information about opening the gate so far, but it is being told that along with Chhattisgarh, there is heavy rain in Orissa as well. In such a situation, the gate of Kolab Dam can be opened anytime.
People are facing a lot of problems due to waterlogging in many wards of Jagdalpur city. The collectors of Sukma, Bijapur, Bastar, Narayanpur and Kanker districts say that in view of the heavy rains, the SDRF team and flood disaster management have been fully alerted.
Indravati river in spate
The best thing is that there has been no complaint of loss of life due to floods. Residents of low lying settlements and submerged areas are being evacuated and sent to camps in time. Also, the water level is being monitored 24 hours a day. The water level of Indravati river is continuously rising. Due to which the old bridge has completely submerged.
