In fact, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the capital of Maharashtra. Public transport services have come to a standstill.

Alert issued for these places

According to the Meteorological Department, waves up to 4.24 meters high will be seen in the sea at 11:28 am. At the same time, heavy rain is also falling. In such a situation, the risk of flooding may increase. A yellow alert has been issued in Mumbai and Palghar, while a more serious orange alert has been issued for Thane.

An average of 78 mm of rain was recorded in central Mumbai yesterday. Meanwhile, East and West Mumbai received 57 mm and 67 mm of rain respectively. The Meteorological Department has predicted moderate to heavy rains in the city.

train movement slowed down

Public transport services in the Maharashtra capital have been severely affected. Incessant rains have led to waterlogging on roads and railway tracks, delaying suburban train services. Trains are running 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule. Train movement has slowed down due to waterlogging on tracks at Chunabhatti on the Harbor Line. Besides, the Central Railway main line faced additional delays due to a technical fault in the engine of a train. The Western Railway said suburban services were running. All three lines – Central, Western and Harbor – are running 10 minutes late.

Andheri subway reopens

At the same time, Andheri subway was closed due to waterlogging. However, it was opened later in the day after the water receded. Thane district has been receiving heavy rains since midnight. Water has accumulated at the Thane Vandana bus depot and the local market, disrupting daily activities.

Schools will remain closed here

Schools across the district have been closed due to heavy rain warning in Nagpur. District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar said that all schools will remain closed today. The situation is serious in Bhiwandi city. Due to heavy rain since morning, water has accumulated in many parts of the city including knee-deep water in Teen Batti area of Sabzi Bazaar. If the rain continues, there is a danger of water entering houses and shops in many low-lying areas.
