Crypto Market in loss, WazirX hacking puts Pressure on Bitcoin, Ether

The crypto market was down on Friday. There was volatility in most cryptocurrencies on international exchanges. There was a huge decline in many cryptocurrencies on Indian exchanges. The biggest reason behind this was the hacker attack on the crypto exchange WazirX. The price of bitcoin on international exchanges fell by 1.17 percent to $ 64,056. Bitcoin had a loss of more than 12 percent on Indian exchanges like WazirX and BuyUCoin and was trading at around $ 58,862.

The second largest cryptocurrency Ether There was a marginal decline of 0.22 percent on international exchanges. Its price was around $3,416 on international exchanges like CoinMarketCap. It had a loss of more than 13 percent on Indian exchanges and was in the range of $3,100 to $3,413. Apart from this, the prices of Tether, Binance Coin, Solana, Ripple, Cardano, Polkadot, Chainlink and Litecoin have also come down. The profit-making cryptocurrencies included Near Protocol, Cronos, Bitcon SV and Iota. In the last one day, the market capitalization of crypto was down by 0.63 percent to around $2.35 trillion.

Edul Patel, CEO of crypto app Mudrex, told Gadgets360, “If bitcoin fails to cross $64,650, it could fall to $62,500. Apart from this WazirX Hacking in has increased the pressure on investors.” CoinSwitch’s Markets Desk said, “In the US, BlackRock, Fidelity have made final filings with market regulator SEC for approval of spot Ether ETF. If this approval is given, it will be a turning point for the US crypto market.”

About $240 million (about Rs 1,965 crore) has been suspiciously sent from WazirX to a new address linked to the controversial crypto mixer platform, Tornado Cash. WazirX was informed about the matter by security firm Cyvers through a post on social media platform X. WazirX said in a statement, “We have learned that the security of one of our multi-signature wallets has been breached. Our team is investigating it.” The exchange has blocked all deposits and withdrawals on its platform. Cyvers said that the address to which the funds were sent from WazirX has already converted PEPE, GALA and USDT tokens into Ether.
