When his mother found out about it, that business was shut down. After this, when his school banned him from appearing in exams, he left school and started working in a call center at a salary of Rs 8000 per month.

Became owner of brokerage firm
After this, he started the brokerage firm Zerodha along with his elder brother Nitin Kamath and became the country’s youngest billionaire. At the age of 14, he started buying and selling old phones
In an interview given to Humans of Bombay, Nikhil Kamat said that his father used to work in a bank and he was transferred to Bangalore. Nikhil was not interested in traditional school studies, due to which he used to bunk school and play chess. At the age of 14, Nikhil started buying and selling old phones along with one of his friends. This was his first business. But when his mother came to know about this, she flushed all the phones in the toilet and his business closed down.

This decision was taken before the board exam
Due to low attendance before the board exams, the school was in favour of not letting Nikhil take the exams and therefore called his parents to the school. On this Nikhil left the school. On this his parents said- do not do anything that will embarrass us. They were not able to figure out what to do next after dropping out of school.

Worked in a call center by making a fake certificate
Later, at the age of 17, he made a fake birth certificate and joined a call center at a salary of Rs 8000. He used to work in the call center from 4 pm to 1 am. During this time, at the age of 18, he invested money in the stock market for the first time. During this time, he got to learn a lot. His father gave him some money and told him to manage it. His father had a lot of faith in Nikhil.

After this, Nikhil convinced the call center manager to invest in the stock market and started investing the manager’s money in the market. Nikhil Kamat told that in his last year in the call center, he did not go to the office even for a single day and he kept getting incentives along with salary, because till that time he was investing the money of his entire team in the market and giving good returns to everyone.
In 2010, he quit his job and started Zerodha with his elder brother. He said that even after becoming a billionaire, there has been no change in him. Even today, he works 85% of the day and remains insecure. Let us tell you that Nikhil Kamat has also started the asset management company True Beacon along with his elder brother. In 2020, Forbes included these two brothers in the list of 100 richest people in India.
