Design of Realme X2 Pro

We have seen many Realme phones that have been launched with polycarbonate body but now the company has started using aluminum body with Gorilla Glass 5 for protection on the front and back. This is why Realme X2 Pro The feel of holding it in hand is good, everything is placed properly.

The Realme X2 Pro smartphone is a bit slippery and the glass back panel easily gets stained, but to avoid this you can use the case that comes in the retail box. The Realme X2 Pro Master Edition has been launched in India with Red Brick and Concrete finish. The button placement is also good in this Realme brand smartphone. The headphone jack, USB Type-C port and speaker will be found at the bottom of the phone.

The display of this Realme brand smartphone is good, the phone has a 6.5-inch full-HD + AMOLED panel, it is claimed that it is coming with 500 nits sustained brightness and 1000 nits peak brightness. The display is sharp and the viewing angles are also good and the saturation of colors is also good.

One special thing is that the display runs at 90Hz instead of the usual 60Hz. Due to the high refresh rate, it provides a fluid feel, be it in Android UI or in apps. Let us tell you that there are thin borders all around the display.

The vertical rear camera module on the back panel of Realme X2 Pro is slightly raised. The thickness of Realme X2 Pro is 8.7 millimeters, it is quite heavy. Of course, its weight is 200 grams but the weight is distributed properly so that the phone does not feel unbalanced.

Realme

Realme X (ReviewLike the Realme X2 Pro, there is no option to expand storage. The Realme X2 Pro supports two nano-SIMs and dual 4G VoLTE. For security, you will get optical in-display fingerprint sensor and customizable unlock animations.

Face unlock support is provided in Realme phone and it works well even in low light. Realme X2 Pro comes with NFC and contactless payment option. Realme X2 Pro runs on ColorOS 6.1 based on Android 9.

This version also gets some new features like dark mode and Google Digital Wellbeing app. Our review unit runs on the November security patch which is good. The look and feel of the interface is similar to other Realme phones. You get the same customization options, gestures and shortcuts.

Not only this, apps like Game Space and ORoaming will be pre-installed. Realme App Market will keep sending notifications but if you want, you can turn it off by going to the settings. Apart from this, many other third-party apps will also be pre-installed but you can also uninstall them.

The Realme X2 Pro smartphone comes with Widevine L1 DRM certification. Dark mode is still a ‘lab’ feature but in our experience it works fine. It is enabled for all installed apps by default but you can disable it manually if you want. The phone also gets Dolby Atmos support which works when audio is played through speakers or through wired/wireless headphones.

Realme X2 Pro performance and battery life

We have no complaints about the daily usage of Realme X2 Pro. There was no problem in reading the display in sunlight and the speakers are loud. We also did not face any problem with call quality. Fingerprint sensor and face recognition also work properly.

You can also use the Always-on-Display mode but the usage is limited as it only shows notifications from some default apps. The phone stays cool on general usage but the sides and back panel get a little warm during gaming and heavy camera usage.

The stereo speakers on the Realme X2 Pro produce good sound. The bottom speaker is loud, full-HD and high-resolution videos look sharp, and the colours are well-saturated.

ColorOS has a video enhancer called ‘OSIE Vision’, which boosts brightness and contrast to make videos look a little more vivid. This is functional on the Realme X2 Pro and can be enabled for apps like MXPlayer, TikTok, and Amazon Prime Video.

You can also turn this effect on or off via the slide-out menu. The powerful processor in Realme X2 Pro handles heavy games and multitasking well. We tried playing heavy games like PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty: Mobile on Realme X2 Pro, both the games ran smoothly. The phone did get a little hot during gaming.

The Realme X2 Pro packs a 4000mAh battery that was reliable. On average, the phone lasted about a day and a half on a single charge, but even with heavy camera usage and gaming, the battery lasted all day. In our battery loop test, the Realme X2 Pro lasted 14 hours and 49 minutes with the screen set to 90Hz.

Charging is especially impressive. With the help of the SuperVOOC charger that comes with the Realme X2 Pro, the phone gets charged from 0 to full in just 31 minutes. Let us tell you that this smartphone of the Realme brand supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Power Delivery for fast charging.

Realme X2 Pro cameras

Like Realme XT, Realme X2 Pro will have a 64-megapixel camera sensor at the back, its aperture is F/1.8, but its other sensors are different. Apart from this, a 13-megapixel telephoto camera sensor, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera sensor with 115-degree field-of-view will be available, its aperture is F/2.2. Along with this, a 2-megapixel depth sensor has been given. There is no optical stabilization in any camera.

With ColorOS 6.1, the camera app will get some new features. Nightscape now works for the selfie camera, the level of background blur can be adjusted in portrait mode and videos can also be shot with the help of the wide-angle camera. Realme has also added Ultra Steady shooting mode to the phone.

The primary camera sensor captures 16-megapixel oversampled images by default. In adequate light, our samples captured details well. Colours were vivid and HDR also balances the exposure of light and dark areas well. You can also shoot at 64-megapixel resolution if you want. Portrait mode works with good edge detection.

The telephoto camera captures details and colors well in daylight. The 5x hybrid zoom captures details well in sufficient light. The wide-angle camera sensor is used to take ultra macro photos. If there is enough light around you, the image quality is good.

The photos taken with the primary camera sensor in low light were good. The details were captured well in the picture and the noise was also under control. Due to the aperture f / 2.2, the wide-angle camera seemed a bit weak in low-light shots. You can also use Nightscape for this sensor. The 16-megapixel selfie camera did not seem very impressive.

HDR is also not handled effectively. Switching to portrait mode, the camera saves 8-megapixel images but edge detection was not accurate. Details in low-light were not well captured but the new Nightscape mode helps fix colour accuracy and light metering.

Due to its powerful processor, the Realme X2 Pro smartphone is capable of recording videos at 4K 60fps. Video quality was good in daylight and image stabilization also worked well. Videos captured using the wide-angle camera had good details.

Slow-motion video is available at 240fps, 480fps and 960fps. The high frame-rate video is recorded at 720p, so the image quality was quite average. The Realme X2 Pro needs a lot of improvement when it comes to video recording in low light, be it 1080p or 4K.

Our verdict

Realme X2 Pro is a good phone priced at Rs 29,999. You will get many features of OnePlus 7T in this phone at an affordable price except for the leaner software. This smartphone of Realme brand also has many shortcomings. The phone gets heated up on heavy games and excessive camera usage.

The selfie camera is not that impressive and the low-light video performance could have been better. Apart from these issues, there are many things to like about the Realme X2 Pro such as its good build quality, vivid 90Hz display, powerful processor, etc.

The speakers of Realme X2 Pro are also good, super fast charging and you will also get a headphone jack in this phone. Overall, if you are looking for that level of design and performance and do not want to spend too much, then Realme X2 Pro smartphone is a great alternative to OnePlus 7T.
