He left Hardik Pandya behind in the race for captaincy at the last moment. Suryakumar Yadav expressed his happiness on becoming the captain and said that the last few weeks have been no less than a dream.
Suryakumar Yadav thanked everyone for keeping faith in him. Surya was appointed the Indian captain of this format after Rohit Sharma’s retirement from T20 International cricket. The 33-year-old batsman was given preference over Hardik Pandya, who was the vice-captain in the T20 World Cup.
