Cyber fraudsters hacked the login credentials (user ID and password) of the entertainment company and sold Spice Jet airline tickets worth Rs 10.50 lakh online. In this case, a case has been registered in Noida Cyber Crime Police Station by the entertainment company. The cyber team is investigating the case.

According to the complaint lodged in the Cyber Crime Police Station by Nandan Negi, Admin Head of Entertainment Network India Limited (ENIL) located in Sector 16A Film City, his company, which does business of media and radio, had an agreement with Spice Jet Airlines. Under which the airlines had agreed to give advertisements on the company’s FM channels.

In return, the airline had agreed to book air tickets worth Rs 45 lakh for its employees and professionals. On reviewing the company’s report on the airlines ticket booking platform in January 2024, it was found that various unauthorized and fraudulent flight tickets worth Rs 10,50,234 were booked using the company’s login credentials.

The passengers who travelled by air were neither employees of the company nor guests associated with the company. It is suspected that the fraudsters have committed this cyber fraud by cracking the password for booking. As soon as the Film City based company came to know about this fraud, it informed the Spice Jet Airlines company team. Noida’s ACP Cyber Vivek Ranjan Rai says that the fraudsters hacked the company’s user ID and sold Spice Jet tickets. This matter is being investigated.

Investigation begins into passengers who flew with hacked tickets

Noida Cyber Crime Police has started investigating the hacker who booked Spice Jet tickets by hacking the user ID and password of Entertainment Network India Limited (ENIL). In the preliminary investigation, the involvement of the accused who hack tour and travel companies has come to light. At the same time, investigation of the people who traveled with the hacked tickets has started in this case. Police is trying to find out from whom and at what price the passengers bought the tickets. Police has formed two teams to investigate the case.

On the other hand, the company conducted an internal investigation of the case at its own level. After which the information of the people traveling with the tickets, mobile numbers, and some passport numbers have been given to the cyber police station. The cyber crime team is investigating. The police is collecting information about the IP address used by the fraudsters. According to Noida’s Cyber Crime ACP Vivek Ranjan Rai, in the preliminary investigation it has come to light that ENIL had an agreement with Spice Jet.

Under this, ENIL had to run advertisements for Spice Jet within the stipulated time. Spice Jet had to do corporate booking of air tickets for ENIL. The ACP told that during investigation it was found that professional hackers who hack tour and travel company agencies might be involved in this. Such hackers earn money in two ways. Firstly, they hack the user ID password of a company and book the air ticket in someone’s name. The person in whose name the booking is done is charged the money for a normal air ticket.

However, hackers make corporate bookings using the company’s ID and password. Police is investigating other such frauds in NCR and is gathering information about the gang involved in it. In this case, the airline company is assisting in the investigation.
