He came into the notice of Tata because of his love for dogs
Shantanu says that he saw many dogs dying after being hit by speeding vehicles on the road. It was very painful. It was found out that drivers are not able to see the dogs in time, this was a big reason for accidents. This gave Shantanu the idea of making a collar reflector for dogs. After some experiments, he made a collar named Metapause. With this, drivers could see the dogs from a distance even without street lights at night. Now the lives of street dogs were being saved. This small but important work was written about in the newsletter of Tata Group companies. Ratan Tata noticed it, who himself is very fond of dogs.
