New Delhi. Delhi’s fast bowler Harshit Rana has been included in India’s ODI team. He has got a place in the ODI team for the first time. When Harshit Rana got to know about his inclusion in the ODI team for the first time, these words came out of his mouth, ‘Hearts can break in Delhi, but we never lose courage.’ Harshit Rana is among the two young cricketers who have been included for the first time in the Indian ODI team going on Sri Lanka tour.
22-year-old fast bowler Hashit Rana from Delhi’s ‘South Extension’ worked hard from the junior level but was often ignored. He took 19 wickets in this IPL season for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Due to this performance, he was selected in Team India for the Zimbabwe tour, but then he did not get a place in the playing eleven.
Harshit said, ‘I believe in hard work. However, whenever I was ignored in a category team, my heart would break and I would sit in my room and cry. My father Pradeep never lost hope.’ He said, ‘If I have to name three people for my hard work till now, it includes my father, my personal coach Amit Bhandari Sir (former Indian and Delhi fast bowler) and Gauti Bhaiya (Gautam Gambhir).’
Harshit said, ‘If my approach towards the game has changed, then it has a lot to do with the presence of Gauti Bhaiya in the KKR dressing room, who changed my mindset. At the top level, you need skill, but more than skill, you need the heart to handle pressure.’ Recalling his conversation with the new Indian head coach, he said, ‘Gauti Bhaiya always tells me that I have trust in you.
