Former President and presidential candidate Donald Trump was attacked during the election campaign in America last week. He narrowly escaped in this attack. The assassination attempt on Trump was also condemned in India. After this attack on Trump, BJP raised the issue of aggressive comments made on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that this should not happen in a democracy. There is a right to disagree, but such disagreement which leads to violence is not right. Along with this, the opposition was also targeted.

BJP leader reacts to article by former UP DGP

Ravi Shankar Prasad condemned this attack on Donald Trump. He said, “An assassination attempt was made on US presidential candidate and former president Donald Trump. By God’s grace he is safe and action has been taken against the culprit. This should not happen in a democracy. There is a right to dissent, but such dissent which leads to violence and targeting of politicians is not right.”

The BJP leader further said, “Former Uttar Pradesh DGP Vikram Singh wrote an article in a newspaper in which he said that the way India’s PM Modi has been targeted, violence against him can increase.” Ravi Shankar said, “There is also evidence of this. In 2013, he was attacked in Patna, in which six people died. When he went to Punjab, his route was changed.”

During this, Ravi Shankar also targeted the Congress. He said that sometimes Rahul Gandhi also makes irresponsible statements. In a democracy, you have the right to disagree, but there should be enough dignity so that no politician is targeted in violence.

Sudhanshu Trivedi surrounded the opposition

BJP MP and national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi also reacted to the article of the former UP DGP. He said, “Today a retired senior IPS officer has written an article in an English newspaper of the country. In the article, he has drawn attention to the current global activities related to security and their impact on India. You know that a year and a half ago, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was assassinated at a political event. A few days ago, an assassination attempt was made on US presidential candidate Donald Trump, in which he narrowly escaped.”

Sudhanshu Trivedi further said, “He (Vikram Singh) said that such tendencies inciting violence and murder are inspired by such statements in which political parties want to use words like ‘violence’ and ‘murder’ for short-term political gains. It is unfortunate and a matter of concern that such words and language inciting violence are being used for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has used derogatory words for PM Modi many times. If you have become the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, then show some maturity. Therefore, I would like to urge all political parties that the use of words like ‘violence’, ‘murder’, ‘attack on someone’, ‘killing’ and ‘grave will be dug’ should be stopped.”
