Just like the Realme 7, the Narzo 20 Pro gets a fingerprint scanner on the power button itself. Thankfully, the volume buttons are set on the other side of the device, saving you from pressing them accidentally.
The Narzo 20 Pro has a quad-camera setup. This camera module looks similar to the one on the Realme 7, but Realme has changed the primary sensor. The back panel has a V-shaped pattern that glows when light falls on it. The glossy back panel picks up fingerprints quite easily, but Realme has included a cover in the box that can be used to avoid these marks.
Realme has used a 4,500mAh battery in the Narzo 20 Pro, which is slightly smaller than the one in the Realme 7. This is actually two 2,250mAh cells to make charging faster. The Narzo 20 Pro gets 65W SuperDart charging technology and luckily, a charger supporting the same capacity is provided in the box. The Narzo 20 Pro weighs 191 grams, which is not too much considering its size and battery capacity.

The similarities between this phone and the Realme 7 are not just limited to the design. Both phones come with the same processor. Realme has opted for the MediaTek Helio G95 chipset in the Narzo 20 Pro. It is an octa-core processor that includes two Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.05GHz clock speed and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 2GHz. It comes in two options – 6GB RAM with 64GB storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB storage. We had its top variant for review, which is priced at Rs 16,999. The base model has been launched at a price of Rs 14,999.
You get a 90Hz full-HD+ display on the Narzo 20 Pro. High-refresh rate panels aren’t very common at this price point, but Realme has already offered them on a few models. The Narzo 20 Pro automatically sets the refresh rate on the phone based on the task at hand. However, you can also set it manually. The color temperature of its panel can also be set manually.
The Narzo 20 Pro runs Realme UI based on Android 10 and our unit had the August Android security patch. Realme UI has some customisations like App Lock, which can be used to lock apps. Apart from this, there is Private Space, which gives you the option to secure your photos, videos and other files with a password. The UI is very easy to use and we used it without any issues. There were also some pre-installed apps on the Realme Narzo 20 Pro, such as Facebook, Realme Community, Realme Pay and some other apps and we would recommend you to uninstall them if you do not want to use them.
Realme Narzo 20 Pro performance
The Narzo 20 Pro did not give us any complaints in everyday use. Apps loaded quickly and switching between them was also smooth. The fingerprint scanner and face unlock feature work accurately and quickly to unlock the device. Even heavy usage can be handled comfortably by the Narzo 20 Pro.
We played Call of Duty: Mobile on the smartphone and it ran on the mid graphics preset by default. With these default settings, the game ran smoothly without any lag. We played the game for 15 minutes and noticed that the battery dropped by 6 percent and the phone screen was slightly warm to the touch.
Battery life on the Realme Narzo 20 Pro was pretty good. The phone easily lasted a day and a half in our usage. Even if you are a heavy user, you should still get a day of battery backup. In our HD video loop test, the Narzo 20 Pro lasted 20 hours and 12 minutes on a single charge, which is pretty good. The icing on the cake is that Realme bundles a 65W SuperDart charger with the phone. It charged the phone up to 50 percent in just fifteen minutes and the phone took about 40 minutes to fully charge. This is pretty fast and there are no phones currently offering such charging speeds at this price.
Realme Narzo 20 Pro cameras
The Narzo 20 Pro gets a quad-camera setup, which includes a 48-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, a 2-megapixel black and white portrait camera, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The camera app is very easy to use and commonly used modes can be accessed by swiping on the main screen. There is a sub-menu for additional shooting modes.
The Narzo 20 Pro takes 12-megapixel shots by default and gets decent dynamic range. The AI is able to detect what scene the camera is going to capture, so it sets the camera accordingly. Colours were accurate and there was good detail even on subjects that were far away. The wide-angle camera outputs lower resolution and there was a noticeable drop in quality. The barrel effect was visible at the edges as well. You also have the option to take shots at the full 48-megapixel resolution, but shots taken with it weren’t that good and we noticed a watercolour-like effect when we zoomed in on the shots.
Close-up shots were good and the camera was able to capture sharp details with a soft background blur. Portrait shots were decent too, but we noticed that the AI was not able to detect the subject well. However, it did a decent job of identifying faces. It also let us set the level of blur before taking a shot. The macro camera lets you capture subjects from very close, but the resolution is low and the images were not very sharp.
Camera performance in low light was average and photos appeared flat. Switching to Night mode brought out better details, but the phone takes about three seconds to capture each shot. The wide-angle camera does not capture as much light as the primary camera. However, it is capable of capturing a larger area. There is also an option to take photos in Night mode using the wide-angle camera, but there is a slight difference in clarity.
Selfies taken with the Realme Narzo 20 Pro were decent. You can also take portrait shots using the selfie camera and it lets you set the level of blur. Portraits were good. Low-light selfies were below average.
Verdict
The Realme Narzo 20 Pro comes equipped with some powerful hardware and can satisfy the needs of power users. The Helio G95 chipset can handle heavy apps and games with ease and the large battery offers good backup. Most impressive is the 65W fast charging support, which takes this phone a step or two ahead of its competitors. However, the low-light camera performance needs some improvement.
If its camera performance doesn’t matter much to you, then the Narzo 20 Pro is a good performer for the price. However, there is really nothing different about this phone and the Narzo 20 Pro. Realme 7 ,Review) is not much of a difference, so Realme 7 also comes out as a suitable option.
