Muharram Tazia Procession In Delhi: On the occasion of Muharram, Tazia processions are being taken out by the Muslim community at various places in Delhi. Keeping this in mind, Delhi Police has also made tight security arrangements. Delhi Traffic Police has also issued a traffic advisory to save people from inconvenience due to the Tazia procession. So that people do not go on the routes of the Tazia procession. Instead, they should use alternative routes and reach their destination without any hindrance.

According to the advisory issued by the traffic police, Muharram is being celebrated on 17th July. On this occasion, the main Tazia will be taken out from various routes of Delhi from 9 pm. Delhi Police has controlled and diverted the traffic on the routes designated for the Tazia. Also, people have appealed to the police to plan their travel in Delhi according to the traffic guidelines. Carry extra time in hand to reach your destination.

Today tazias and processions will be taken out on these demands

  • Tonight at 9 o’clock, the procession of Tazia will start from Chatta Shahzad, Kalan Mahal and will pass through Kamra Bangash-Chitli, Qabbar-Chudi Walan, Matia Mahal, Jama Masjid, Chawri Bazar, Hauz Qazi and will be taken back through the same route in the reverse order.
  • It will pass through Ashok Basti, Qutub Road, Khari Baoli, Lal Kuan, Hauz Qazi, Chawdi Bazaar and Jama Masjid of the old police station and will be taken back through the same route in the opposite order. Tazias from Nizamuddin, Okhla and Mehrauli will reach Karbala directly.
  • Tazia processions will also be taken out in East District, North-East District, Shahdara District (Yamuna Par area), North-West District (Indralok and Jahangirpuri), South-East District (Nizamuddin), South District and West District. The processions will end at the local Karbala of the respective districts.
  • On Wednesday, the procession will assemble at Kalan Mahal from 11 am and proceed towards Karbala, Jor Bagh, New Delhi.
  • Another one starting from Jama Masjid and reaching Chowk Hauz Qazi, Ajmeri Gate, Paharganj, Bridge Chelmsford Road, New Delhi Railway Station, Chelmsford Road, Outer Circle Connaught Place (opposite carriageway), Sansad Marg R/A Patel Chowk, Sansad Marg, Rafi Marg, R/A Rail Bhavan, Kartavya Path, Rafi Marg Crossing, Sunhari Masjid, Sunhari Bagh Road, Krishna Menon Marg, R/A Gol Methi, Tughlaq Road, Aurobindo Marg, Jor Bagh Road and Karbala, Lodhi Colony.

Traffic Route Diversion:

  • Buses going to Ajmer Gate and beyond and coming on Deshbandhu Gupta Road will be stopped at Aaram Bagh. These buses will proceed towards their destination via Chitragupt Road-Pahad Ganj.
  • Buses going to New Delhi Railway Station will also be stopped at Aaram Bagh.
  • Buses going to Connaught Place and Central Secretariat will terminate at Udyan Marg via Rani Jhansi Road-Mandir Marg-Park Street and return via Kali Bari Marg.
  • Buses coming from East and Central districts to W-Point going to Connaught Place and Central Secretariat will terminate at Mandi House via Sikandara Road and will return via Bhagwan Das Road-Tilak Marg.
  • Buses plying from North and East districts towards Connaught Place-Central Secretariat will reach ‘A’ Point and terminate at Shivaji Statue via DDU Marg and return via Thompson Marg.
  • Buses going to Central Secretariat/Connaught Place via Shantipath-Vinay Marg will terminate at Udyan Marg via Panchsheel Marg- Sardar Patel Marg- Mother Teresa Crescent- Park Street and in return will go via Kali Bari Marg- Mandir Marg- Park Street- Mother Teresa Crescent.
  • Buses coming on Tughlaq Road and going towards Central Secretariat and Connaught Place will be diverted via Prithviraj Road-Q Point-Man Singh Road-Maulana Azad Road and will be stopped at Vigyan Bhawan and sent back via Janpath.
  • When the procession reaches around Golmethi, buses coming on Aurobindo Marg will be diverted towards Prithviraj Road/Safdarjung Road. When the procession reaches R/A Tughlaq Road, buses will be diverted from INA under the Safdarjung flyover and returned from there.
  • No bus will be allowed to move towards Tughlaq Road. Buses coming from Q Point to Aurangzeb Road will be diverted towards Prithvi Raj Road.
  • Buses coming from Samrat Hotel for R/A Tughlaq Road will be diverted towards R/A Kautilya Marg- Mother Teresa Crescent- R/A RML Hospital.
  • In view of the Tajiya and procession, along with controlling the traffic on these routes, the route of city buses will also be changed. According to the traffic police, DTC and other city buses will be diverted and run on these routes.
