Two murder victims who were reportedly shot dead before being found in a burnt-out car in Sweden are British, according to local media.

Police have launched a double-murder investigation after they discovered two people dead on Sunday afternoon in Malmo.

When police attended the scene, after reports of a fire, they found a burnt-out Danish-registered Toyota Rav 4.

Swedish media have reported that both victims were British nationals and they were shot dead before the fire.

According to reports, the Britons had rented the Toyota at Kastrup airport, in Denmark, before it was found a burnt-out shell around 2pm local time.

Local police are interviewing witnesses and appealing to the public for any help as Interpol are also reportedly said to have been involved.

The two victims are yet to have been identified.
