Pramod Patil: Theft is common in houses, shops and cities. But sometimes the theft is such that people are shocked. Now think for yourself. First the thief committed the theft. Then when he came to know that he had committed theft in the poet’s house, he started regretting it. On 26 June, a thief came to the house of poet Narayan Surve in Ganganagar of Neral, Karjat. Know what happened after this.

The thief became emotional after stealing from the poet’s house
The thief searched the poet’s house thoroughly. When he did not find gold in the house, the copper utensils, TV and other things were shattered. The thief came again the next day hoping to find something else, but then he saw a photo. Senior poet Narayan Surve was seen on the wall of the house. The thief was stunned to see the photo. The thief left the house without finding anything and returned again on the third day with stolen goods. The thief got emotional and left after putting a note on the wall.

Complaint lodged at police station
The thief wrote a notice stating that he did not know that this house belonged to poet Narayan Surve. Otherwise he would not have stolen. He also apologized. The thief left after writing this. Then he brought back the TV. A few days later when Narayan Surve’s relatives who had gone to meet their son in Virar came home, they saw that there was a theft in the house. A complaint was lodged at Neral Police Station. Inspector Dhavale of Neral Police Station has said that on the basis of CCTV and other information, the thief will be arrested soon.

What did the thief write in the note?
The thief wrote in the note, ‘I did not know that this is Narayan Surve’s house. Otherwise I would not have stolen. Forgive me. I am returning what I had taken from you. I had taken the TV, but kept it.’
