GTB Hospital Firing News: After the brutal murder of a patient in a ward of Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Delhi on Sunday, the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of the hospital has announced to go on an indefinite strike citing security concerns. The shooting of a patient in a ward of the hospital has been condemned by RD and other doctors.

According to a statement issued by the RDA, “The doctors have been forced to go on strike after their long-pending demand for adequate security was not heeded by the city government. So far our repeated appeals to increase security have been ignored by the government, resulting in this tragic incident.”

The RDA spokesperson said in the statement that until the Delhi government ensures a safe environment for everyone in the hospital, we cannot continue our duty. The statement said that the strike will continue until basic safety reforms are implemented and communicated effectively. The doctors said that emergency services will remain operational during the strike.

‘Government should provide immediate security to doctors’

Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) president Aviral Mathur said that the recent incident of violence at GTB Hospital clearly shows that there is an urgent need to increase security measures for doctors. He said that the Central Security Act should be introduced in Parliament without delay. It is important that the Health Ministry immediately issues standard operating procedures (SOPs) to increase security in all major government hospitals.

Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj has decided to review security in all hospitals after the murder of a patient in GTB Hospital. He said that any kind of negligence will not be tolerated.

Patient murdered in front of doctor

Let us tell you that on Sunday, a teenager shot dead a 32-year-old man in front of doctors and his relatives in a ward of GTB Hospital. Police said that the victim Riyazuddin was admitted to the hospital on June 23. He was undergoing treatment for stomach infection.

According to a statement from the hospital, Riyazuddin was admitted to the surgery ward on June 22 and underwent surgery for perforation peritonitis on June 24. Police have reviewed CCTV footage from the hospital and are investigating the case.
