Expansion
There is a possibility of a confrontation again in the Lok Sabha session starting on Monday after a two-day break. The opposition will corner the government on issues like misuse of central agencies, NEET and Agnipath. While the opposition has decided to protest in the Parliament House complex on Monday over the alleged misuse of central investigation agencies, the government has made it clear that it will not accept the opposition’s demand to first discuss the irregularities in NEET.
It is worth noting that the conflict between the government and the opposition started with the oath taking ceremony in the first session. As soon as the oath taking ceremony was completed, the battle of Save Constitution vs Emergency started between the government and the opposition. The resolution brought against the Emergency by the Chair in the Lok Sabha and the sharp criticism of the Emergency in the President’s address brought both the parties face to face. On Friday, the conflict in the Rajya Sabha increased so much that the opposition boycotted the proceedings for the whole day.
crisis over thanksgiving motion
There is a crisis of discussion on the motion of thanks brought by the opposition on the President’s address in both the houses of Parliament. Now only three working days are left in the current session. The opposition is adamant on discussing the NEET issue before discussing the motion. The government says that there is no tradition of any kind of discussion before discussing the motion of thanks. It is worth noting that the PM has to respond to the discussion in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday and in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
