Three new criminal laws, the Indian Justice Code, the Indian Civil Protection Code and the Indian Evidence Act will come into effect from July 1. From this day, the decades-old Indian Penal Code (IPC), Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and Indian Evidence Act will be changed. Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a bill to amend these three laws in the Lok Sabha in August 2023. These laws made before independence are still in force.
