Expansion
A unique situation arose in the Upper House of Parliament on Friday. Usually the Chair reminds the speakers of the time and instructs them to speak briefly. On the contrary, for the first time the Chair gave the speakers an opportunity to speak beyond the stipulated time, sometimes in the name of the first speech and sometimes in the name of if they want to say anything else, then say it. This situation arose because during the discussion on the motion of thanks brought on the President’s address, due to the walkout of the opposition, there was a shortage of speakers in the Upper House.
In fact, all the parties included in the opposition India Block boycotted the proceedings on Friday in the NEET paper leak case. Since the discussion on the motion of thanks was listed in the proceedings agenda, the responsibility of conducting the proceedings from 11 am to 6 pm fell on the ruling NDA alliance.
Deora was asked to speak more
A similar example was seen when Milind Deora presented his speech on the motion of thanks. Deora wanted to end his speech after speaking for 22 minutes. However, Chairman Dhankhar encouraged him to speak more by saying that this is your maiden speech in this House.
