The Tamil Nadu Assembly once again passed a unanimous resolution urging the Center to exempt the state from the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test. Along with this, it demanded to allow students to get admission in medical courses on the basis of marks of Plus Two examination. BJP ally PMK supported the resolution introduced by Chief Minister and DMK leader MK Stalin. CM Stalin said in the House that this examination was discriminatory. In this, rural and poor students were deprived of the opportunity to get medical education.
AIADMK accuses state government
AIADMK leader and former CM Edappadi Palaniswami accused the DMK of making little effort to scrap NEET. He questioned, “What is the meaning of bringing a resolution in the assembly for the third time?” The AIADMK leader said, “This is a political drama of the DMK government. People do not believe in such political gimmicks.”
BJP leader in the Assembly Nainar Nagendran stressed the need for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). “NEET is needed. The Assembly resolution against NEET is unacceptable. We are walking out,” he said. Other BJP leaders also walked out along with Nagendran.
