Meerapur By Election Exit Poll: On November 20, the voting process was completed on nine assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh. Counting of votes will take place on November 23. Before counting, exit polls have come out on nine seats, in which Samajwadi Party seems to be suffering loss. Whereas BJP leaders are happy with the exit polls. In various exit polls of Uttar Pradesh by-election, BJP is expected to get 6-7 seats, while Samajwadi Party is seen getting only 2-3 seats. In the exit poll, BJP’s ally Rashtriya Lok Dal is seen making a comeback in Meerapur of Muzaffarnagar.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections 2022, Chandan Chauhan had won from Meerapur Assembly seat of Muzaffarnagar on Rashtriya Lok Dal ticket by securing 1,07,421 votes. At that time RLD was not an ally of BJP and had defeated BJP’s Prashant Choudhary in the elections. Lok Sabha elections During 2024, RLD became an ally of BJP. NDA fielded Meerapur MLA Chandan Chauhan from Bijnor.
Meerapur seat was vacant after Chandan Chauhan was elected as Bijnor MP, due to which the by-election was called for. For the Meerapur by-election, Samajwadi Party fielded Sumbul Rana, daughter-in-law of former MP Kadir Rana, on the ticket. RLD has expressed confidence in Mithlesh Pal and fielded him from here.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Avtar Singh Bhadana defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Liaquat Ali from Mirapur seat by a margin of just 193 votes. In the 2012 assembly elections, Jamil Ahmed Kasmi of Bahujan Samaj Party defeated Mithlesh Pal of RLD from Mirapur. Jamil Ahmed Qasmi lost the election by more than 12 votes.

According to the data released by the Election Commission, till 5 pm the voter turnout was 33.30 percent in Ghaziabad, 56.69 percent in Katehari, 46.35 percent in Khair, 57.32 percent in Kundarki, 53.92 percent in Karhal, 50.41 percent in Majhwan, 57.02 percent in Mirapur, Phulpur. 43.43 percent in Sisamau and 49.03 percent in Sisamau. Percentage voting took place. The voting process started at seven in the morning and voters were allowed to cast their votes till five in the evening.
