Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a special session of Parliament in Guyana on Thursday. With this, this will be the 14th time that PM Modi will address a parliament abroad. This is a record for any Indian Prime Minister.
According to officials, apart from PM Modi, Manmohan Singh has addressed the Parliament 7 times abroad in this manner. Whereas, as Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi did this four times, whereas Jawaharlal Nehru got this opportunity thrice. Rajiv Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee have addressed the Parliament of another country twice each. Morarji Desai and PV Narasimha Rao got this opportunity once each.
Since becoming Prime Minister in 2014, Modi has addressed parliaments in many countries from America to Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia.
