New Delhi. Pakistan has once again appointed Shahid Aslam as the batting coach of the national team for limited overs after the players struggled in the recently concluded tour of Australia. Aslam has already worked with the Pakistan team for many years as an assistant coach, fielding coach and assistant manager.

Shahid Aslam has been working as a coach at the High Performance Center in Lahore for the last two years. Earlier, former Test captain Mohammad Yousuf was working as the batting coach of the national team but then he was made the national selector. Shahid Aslam has not played a single international match for Pakistan. He has played only first class and List A matches.

Yusuf had also recently resigned from his post at the High Performance Centre, but the PCB rejected his resignation. Now, on the recommendation of Aaqib Javed, head coach of the limited overs team, Aslam has been made the batting coach. It remains to be seen how he helps the team in the coming matches.

Let us tell you that Shahid Aslam has played 17 first class and 16 List A matches for Pakistan. During this period he has scored 367 and 205 runs respectively. His highest score has been 71 in First Class and 64 in List A. The PCB on Monday appointed Aaqib as the head coach of the limited overs team till the ICC Champions Trophy early next year after Australia’s Jason Gillespie turned down the offer to become the coach of all formats.
