johannesburg. T20 World Champion India has once again defeated South Africa. Team India won the trophy by winning 3-1 in the four-match T20 series. Captain Suryakumar Yadav praised Tilak Verma, who scored two consecutive centuries while batting at number three in the series against South Africa. He said that the responsibility given to this young batsman was fulfilled by him well. India won the series 3-1 by registering a big win of 135 runs in the fourth and final match.
Virat Kohli continued to bat at number three for a long time in this shorter format of the game. The team management tried some other batsmen at this number in recent times. Rishabh Pant was sent to this number during the T20 World Cup but he did not get much success. Suryakumar has also batted at this number but he decided to send Tilak at number three in the last two matches against South Africa. This 22 year old player took full advantage of it.
Suryakumar said after the match, “This thought was revolving in my mind that a player batted at number three for a long time and achieved great success. This was a great opportunity for a young batsman and he took full advantage of it. We both talked about it and he took the responsibility. He was ready as soon as he spoke. The way he batted here was amazing. Hopefully he will continue to perform well not only in T20 but in all formats.
Batting first, India scored 283 runs for one wicket. From his side, Tilak scored unbeaten 120 runs on 47 balls while Sanju Samson remained unbeaten on 109 runs on 56 balls. Both of them made an unbroken partnership of 210 runs for the second wicket. Surya Kumar said, “We had played some T20 Internationals before winning the T20 World Cup. We talked about what kind of cricket we need to play to move forward.
He said, “In IPL, we play for different teams but when we play for India, we want to perform the same way. Like we do for our franchise teams. We want to play that kind of cricket. After the T20 World Cup, we moved forward following the same things.
