New Delhi. Tilak Verma played an important role in India’s victory in the third T20 match against South Africa. Left-handed batsman Tilak won a lot of applause by scoring an unbeaten century. After scoring a century through fours, Tilak gave a flying kiss while looking towards Team India. After the match, Tilak told that the flying kiss was for captain Suryakumar Yadav, who expressed confidence in him and sent him to bat at number three. Tilak did not disappoint his captain and mesmerized the team management including Surya by playing explosive innings.

Tilak Verma scored a century in 51 balls. And he completed his second fifty in just 19 balls. After this, while watching in the dugout, he gave a ‘flying kiss’ to express his gratitude to his captain. Suryakumar Yadav had decided to field him in his batting order. Tilak told reporters after the 11-run win over South Africa, ‘It was for our captain ‘Sky’ who gave me a chance to play at number three.

‘I will live up to your trust on the field’
According to Tilak Verma, ‘I like to bat at number three. But in the last two matches he landed at number four. The night before the match he came to my room and said that you will be at number three. He said that this is a good opportunity and go and play freely. I said that you have given me this opportunity and I will live up to your trust on the field. Even when we were a flop, the team supported us. He said that play in the same manner for which the Indian team is known. The captain and the management (interim coach VVS Laxman) said to play boldly even if the wickets fall.

‘I was feeling bad but I did not lose my composure’
Tilak said that due to finger injury he could not go on two international tours. But he always knew that he would score runs when his time came. Tilak Verma said, ‘The bone of my finger had slipped in the last IPL match. And I couldn’t play for two months. After this, I again suffered a fracture in the nets due to which I could not go to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. I was feeling bad but I did not lose my composure and concentrated on the process. I knew that when the right time came, I would score runs. The Indian team is leading 2-1 in the 4-match T20 series. Team India cannot lose the series now. The last T20 match will be played on Friday (15 November) in Johannesburg.
