The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the petition filed by Prashant Kishor’s party seeking postponement of the by-election for Bihar Assembly. The Supreme Court bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan said that it is too late now to interfere in the by-elections that have been decided.

Voting is to be held on four seats in Bihar on November 13. These include the seats of Ramgarh, Tarari, Belaganj and Imamganj.

Prashant Kishor’s party had filed a petition in the Supreme Court saying that the election dates were postponed citing religious events in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Kerala. However, despite Chhath Puja in Bihar, no such arrangement was made.

Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing on behalf of the petitioner, said that there is no other festival more important than Chhath Puja in Bihar. Despite this, no change was made in the election dates.

What did the Supreme Court say?

Describing it as a policy matter, the Supreme Court said that the courts should not interfere in it. The court found that all these arrangements were made for the Bihar by-election. The Supreme Court said that other political parties do not have any problem. Only your party has a problem. You are a new political party. You need to know this tricky problem.
