Chhath Festival: Preparations to offer last arghya to Sun God from Delhi to UP

The great festival Chhath will end with the last offering to the Sun this morning. From Delhi to UP, there is a gathering of devotees and devotees since last night on the river banks and artificial ghats. Amidst the echo of Chhath songs like Kanche Hi Bansa Ke Bahangiya, Bahangi Lachkat Jaaye…, devotees have gathered on the banks of river Yamuna and other Chhath ghats of Delhi. The devotees have prepared to offer Arghya to the Sun with traditional songs and devotion. There is also a lot of fairs on the ghats.

Lakhs of devotees camped on the ghats all night on Friday morning to offer arghya to the rising sun at various places in the capital. During this time the ghats were decorated with lamps and lights. The devotional atmosphere among the devotees on Chhath festival was worth seeing. Women reached the ghats with baskets filled with puja material on their heads and offered Arghya with reverence.

On the occasion of Chhath festival, 474 cusecs of water was released into the Eastern Canal of UP, which was closed for repair for the last 15 days. Water was released from the barrage so that devotees could offer prayers in the flowing water during Chhath Puja.

The water flow of Yamuna river at Hathini Kund barrage was recorded at 3035 cusecs. It is noteworthy that the repair of the canal has been going on for many days. In such a situation, its water has been shut off. But considering the faith of Purvanchal devotees, water supply was restored in the closed Eastern Canal of UP. In such a situation, 474 cusecs of water has been released from the barrage into the Eastern Canal. 2209 cusecs of water was supplied to Western Yamuna Canal. To maintain the continuous flow of water in Yamuna river, 352 cusecs of water is being released into the river.

Chhath ghats were monitored through drone cameras

Delhi Police also left no stone unturned to make Chhath Puja a safe and peaceful celebration. All the venues were monitored with drones. Along with this, additional police personnel were deployed in all the districts. Along with security arrangements, top police officers were present on the spot to control the traffic system. Barricades were set up around the venue to control the crowd. The police were keeping special vigil on the visitors. The police officer said that arrangements have been made for 24-hour patrolling at the major ghats. Besides, medical aid and first aid centers have also been established at these places.
