Taliban minister Mohammad Khalid Hanafi issued the order

Taliban Minister Mohammad Khalid Hanafi has said in the order that women’s voices are considered stray, that is why they need to remain hidden. No one should hear their voice in public places, not even women. His voice should not be heard even while reading the Quran. Minister Khaled Hanafi has announced this during an event in Eastern Logar province.

According to a report by The New York Post, Hanafi said that women should not read the Quran out loud, even if they are with other women. He further said, “Women are not even allowed to say Takbeer or Azaan. Women are also banned from listening to music.

Afghan workers protested

Afghan activists living abroad have condemned this order of Taliban. Johal Azra of the Australian Hazara Advocacy Network told news.com.au, “Last month, women’s voice was banned in public places by the Taliban. After this, the situation of women has become worse. This order makes it clear that Taliban wants to completely eliminate women’s rights.

She further said, “Since returning to power in Afghanistan, the Taliban have eliminated women and girls from public life by implementing more than 105 orders, fatwas and orders. They have implemented these orders violently and arbitrarily .
