TRAI: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has taken major action against firms harassing people by making unnecessary calls. About 50 unregistered tele-marketing firms have been blacklisted. 2 lakh 75 thousand numbers have been disconnected, apart from mobile numbers, these include numbers which harass people by using SIP, DID and other telecom resources. This action has been taken under the ‘Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulation 2018 Rules’.

According to reports, TRAI has said that spam calls are increasing. Between January and June, the first half of this year, more than 7 lakh 90 thousand complaints were received against unregistered telemarketers. After this, TRAI gave strict instructions to the telecom companies to close down such firms and disconnect those connected numbers.

On August 28, TRAI also proposed changes in anti-spam regulations. The proposal states that such telephone customers who make more than the daily limit of calls or SMS should be investigated as spam callers. Telecom providers have been asked not to send messages that contain URLs, APKs, OTT links and unapproved callbank numbers. TRAI believes that its decisions will reduce spam calls. Mobile users will get relief.

It is noteworthy that the number of spam calls has increased a lot in recent times. Almost everyone is troubled by calls coming from unwanted numbers. In most of the cases, these calls are made for fraud. If you are also troubled by such calls, then you can put them in the block list. Also stay away from messages coming from such numbers, because clicking on the link given with the message can be dangerous.
