The policy continued for several decades, due to which the gender ratio deteriorated. Today the situation is such that due to not being able to give heavy dowry to girls, boys are remaining bachelors. At present the economist who has advised the youth to have an international wedding is being discussed in China.
‘If it is expensive in your place, then bring a bride from the neighborhood’
According to the report of South China Morning Post, Ding Shangfa, Associate Professor in the Economics Department of Xiamen University, has advised the youth to marry outside their country. For this he has advised to bring brides from countries like Russia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Pakistan. He has said that in our country there are no girls for about 3.5 crore men. Brides are not taking dowry below Rs 60-70 lakh. On an average, village boys in China earn Rs 2.4 lakhs, so they were unable to find a Chinese bride.
Foreign brides do not demand much…
There was an uproar in China on Ding Shangfa’s advice. When women opposed it, many boys were seen speaking in its favor. According to him, girls from other countries do not demand a house, car and so much dowry. Not only this, she is also talented and hardworking. One user wrote – By doing this competition will increase and dowry will reduce. Some people said that this will increase the risk of language change because women will speak the language of another country.
