Delhi Yamuna Water Pollution: Before Chhath Puja in Delhi, politics regarding Yamuna water has reached its peak. While BJP is targeting Aam Aadmi Party over the frothy Yamuna, Aam Aadmi Party is accusing the neighboring states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh of polluting the Yamuna. Meanwhile, according to exclusive evidence obtained by ABP News, the level of pollution in Yamuna water has increased more than 3 thousand times in the last 5 years.

Let us tell you that in Delhi alone, the Delhi government has spent more than Rs 6800 crore on cleaning Yamuna since 2017. Even after this, according to the exclusive report of DPCC available with ABP News, the level of pollution in Yamuna in Okhla which was at the rate of 1200 in the year 2019 has crossed 35 lakh today.

This is the reality of Yamuna

According to Delhi Pollution Control Committee, this dirt is Fecal Coliform, which is generally found in drains. In the year 2019, the level of Fecal Coliform in Yamuna located at Okhla Agra Canal was 2100, today this level has increased to more than 11 lakh. Similar is the condition of Yamuna in ITO area. Where in 2019 the level of this filth was 2500, today it has increased to more than 2 lakh 40 thousand. Where the level of filth in Yamuna in Nizamuddin was 1500 5 years ago, today the level of filth has reached more than 11 lakh.

Pollution is highest in this area

The same situation exists today in Wazirabad ISBT and Asgarpur area also. Where instead of decreasing compared to 2019, the pollution has increased manifold in 2024. The rate of filth in Yamuna situated in Asgarpur is more than 45 lakhs.

That’s why the condition of Yamuna is worse than a drain.

According to experts, the maximum amount of Fecal Coliform in any river should not be more than 2500. A river is bathable when the Fecal Coliform in it is less than 500, but the level of Fecal Coliform in Yamuna is not only scary but according to environmental expert Manu Singh, even in any drain the Fecal Coliform does not exceed 25 thousand. . In such a situation, today the condition of Yamuna river is worse than that of a drain.

Do not celebrate Chhath in Yamuna water

According to doctors, bathing in the level of Fecal Coliform present in Yamuna today not only causes skin diseases but is also common. There is a possibility of even cancer. According to Dr. Prakhar Garg, Senior Consultant of Yatharth Hospital, the level of more than 35 lakh Fecal Coliform in Yamuna is dangerous. In such a situation, people should celebrate Chhath at home in clean water and not by taking a dip in Yamuna.
