An army truck carrying supplies met with an accident in Kulgam district of South Kashmir. MT driver Jawan Jeet Kumar (35) was martyred in the accident. While 13 people including a Major were injured. Four civilians are also among the injured.

Jeetkumar, resident of village Lukatpura of Kotwali area, was recruited in Rajputana Regiment in 2015. He was posted as a driver in the Third Corps of ASC. Jeet Kumar was posted in Ladakh, Jammu.

On Saturday, he had taken logistics material on a truck to the military site. While returning the truck met with an accident. Jeetkumar was sacrificed in the accident. Father Surendra Singh told that in the afternoon the army officer called and informed about his son’s sacrifice. The entire family is shocked by the sacrifice of their son.

Shaheed Jeet Kumar was the eldest of four brothers. He was married in the year 2007 to Sarita Rajput, daughter of Munna Fauji, resident of village Behta of Jahanganj police station area. they have two children. The elder son Divyanshu (12) studies in class five and the younger one (6) studies in class one.

Mother Ganga Shree and wife Sarita were in bad condition due to crying. On receiving information about the sacrifice of the soldier, SDM Rajnikant Pandey, Area Officer Mohammadabad Arun Kumar, Inspector Vinod Shukla reached home and informed father Surendra Kumar. The father told that till Sunday morning the dead body of the victim was brought to the village and there was news of his death.

Jeet had gone nine days ago after taking leave.

Jeetkumar’s wife Sarita was crying while saying that he had just gone on October 17 after completing 45 days of leave. Who knew that he would leave us. Mother became very bad due to crying. She repeatedly called out to call her son. She would say that her beloved was gone.
