Meerapur By-Election 2024: Nomination has started for the by-elections to be held on nine seats in Uttar Pradesh. The last date for filing nomination is October 25, but Jayant Choudhary’s Rashtriya Lok Dal has not yet announced its candidate for Meerapur assembly seat. If sources are to be believed, RLD has not been able to finalize the name of its candidate on this seat. RLD wants to bet on a new face on this seat keeping in mind all the caste equations.

In UP by-election, BJP has given one Meerapur seat to RLD. In such a situation, the contenders in the party are trying their best to get the ticket for this seat. Some of these are old faces of RLD while many new faces are also said to be involved in this race. Jat, Gurjar and Muslim population play a decisive role in this seat. It is believed that Jayant can also bet on a Muslim candidate from this seat.

Brainstorming on the name of the candidate
In the UP by-elections, RLD had claimed two seats, Meerapur and Khair, but BJP agreed to give only one seat. RLD had won this seat in the 2022 assembly elections. However, he had fought this election with the Samajwadi Party. Chandan Chauhan of RLD had won the election from this seat. But, after he became MP, this seat became vacant, after which now elections have to be held on it.

This time RLD is contesting the elections in alliance with BJP, hence due to the hope of victory in the party, the number of contenders is also high. Former MLA and current MP Chandan Chauhan is also pushing to get a ticket for his close friend on this seat.

Let us tell you that Samajwadi Party has made Sumbul Rana, daughter-in-law of former MP Qadir Rana, its candidate from Mirapur seat. Sumbul Rana is the daughter of senior BSP leader and former MP Munkad Ali. While Bahujan Samaj Party has made Assembly in-charge Shahnazar its candidate from this seat, Azad Samaj Party has also placed its bet on Muslim candidate Zahid Hussain. Voting for Meerapur seat will be held on 13th November and results will be declared on 23rd November.

BJP can field this face against Irfan Solanki’s wife on Sisamau seat! Will we get revenge for the defeat of 2022?
