Now less than a month is left for Jharkhand Assembly elections. Meanwhile, a situation of tension arose regarding the status of seats in the Indian alliance. In fact, recently Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had announced the seat sharing agreement between his party JMM and Congress. Expressing disappointment over this on Sunday, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) said that it will not accept to contest on less than 12 seats in the state. The party said that even if it had to contest alone, it would not harm the India alliance.

Let us tell you that at the national level, opposition parties have formed India Alliance to counter the BJP. It also includes Congress, RJD and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). However, at the state level this alliance is often in trouble due to lack of consensus among the parties. The latest incident happened on Saturday itself, when JMM and Congress announced that both the parties will contest elections on 70 out of 81 assembly seats in the state.

What did RJD say about its intention to fight alone?

RJD spokesperson Manoj Kumar Jha said, “Less than 12-13 seats are not acceptable to us because RJD has a strong hold on 18-20 seats in Jharkhand.” If we are asked to contest elections on three-four seats, we are not ready to make any sacrifice.

He said, “Our only aim is to defeat the BJP, we will not harm the India alliance.” Rajya Sabha MP Jha said that even if the party decides to contest the elections alone, it will defeat the India alliance on 60-62 seats. Will support its candidates.

Let us tell you that RJD had contested seven seats in the 2019 assembly elections and won one seat. Party MLA Satyanand Bhokta is a minister in the Hemant Soren cabinet.
