IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the tunnel was located beneath the family home in Khan Yunis. This footage was recovered from Gaza during an operation several months ago.
Sinwar had fled into the tunnel with his family.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari told a press conference that even before the brutal massacre, Sinwar was busy securing his and his family’s survival. Hagari said a few hours before the massacre, Sinwar and his family fled into the tunnel alone. They were seen carrying food, water, pillows, a plasma television, mattresses and other essential items for a long stay. Hours before the massacre, Sinwar only cared about himself and his family as he sent terrorists to carry out deadly attacks on Israeli children, women and men.
The IDF showed photographs of the underground complex, which contained toilets, showers, a kitchen, beds, uniforms, safes, lots of cash, documents and other intelligence in the tunnel. In February, the IDF reached the underground fortress built by Sinwar in Khan Yunis, but he had escaped shortly before, the spokesman said.
Hamas named Sinwar’s death as martyrdom
Meanwhile, Hamas termed Sinwar’s death as martyrdom. It was glorified and said that he attained martyrdom while fighting. He had termed Hagari’s comments as a blatant lie. Earlier this week, drone footage showed Sinwar seriously injured in his last moments. Sinwar was also seen throwing an object at the drone. The post-mortem found that Sinwar was killed by a bullet to the head.
