IPS Bhagyashree Navteke trapped in 1200 crore fraud case, CBI files case

IPS officer Bhagyashree Navatke has been caught in the case of fraud of Rs 1200 crore through a cooperative credit society of Pune. CBI has registered a case against him on charges of forgery and criminal conspiracy. He is accused of misusing rules in the investigation of the fraud case.

In fact, in 2015, Bhaichand Hirachand Raisani Cooperative Credit Society of Jalgaon got people to invest crores of rupees by claiming better returns. When investors did not get returns after the stipulated time, people complained of fraud. When the matter was investigated, a scam worth Rs 1200 crore came to light. It is said that more than 80 cases were filed in Maharashtra in the case.

IPS officer Bhagyashree Navatke of SIT of Economic Offenses Wing was investigating this case till 2020-22. During this, IPS Navatke was accused of ignoring the rules during the investigation. When the matter was investigated by CID, it came to light that IPS Bhagyashree ignored the rules in the investigation and registered three cases each without conducting preliminary investigation. Regarding this, Pune Police had also registered a case against the IPS on charges of criminal conspiracy, making false records and forgery.

The case was handed over to the CBI by the Maharashtra government in August 2024. Now the CBI, which is investigating the case, has also registered a case against the IPS officer on charges of forgery and criminal conspiracy. The CBI found that he had made lapses in the valuation of the properties in question. It is being told that now CBI will interrogate him. Their statements will also be recorded.
