Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina: Bangladesh court on Thursday (17 October) has ordered to issue arrest warrant against exiled former leader Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina had fled to India after being removed from power in August. “The court has ordered the arrest of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her production in the court on November 18,” Mohammad Tajul Islam, chief prosecutor of Bangladesh’s International Criminal Tribunal, told reporters on Thursday.

International Crimes Tribunal President Justice Mohammed Ghulam Murtuza Mazumdar began the tribunal proceedings after 11:30 am. On the first day, the prosecution team demanded arrest warrant against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 50 other people. More than 60 cases related to forced disappearance and murder have been registered in the International Criminal Tribunal against Awami League party leader Sheikh Hasina, other leaders of the 14-party alliance, former law enforcement officials and journalists of the country.

Recent statement of Advocate Tajul Islam
On October 13, Chief Prosecutor Advocate Tajul Islam had said that within this week, arrest warrants and travel ban would be issued against those who took part in the riots and unrest in the country in July. For this, Interpol’s help will be taken against all those who have fled the country.

Sheikh Hasina’s diplomatic passport canceled

Mohammad Tajul Islam told the media that human rights violations took place on a large scale during Hasina’s 15-year rule. He sent political opponents to jail. Sheikh Hasina was behind the crimes like massacre and murder that took place in the country from July to August. 77-year-old Hasina has not been seen in public since fleeing Bangladesh. Bangladesh is angry with their presence in India. For this reason they have canceled Hasina’s diplomatic passport.
