The attack came shortly after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed at the UN to continue fighting the terrorist group. The sound of Israeli air strikes was heard throughout the city. Following the attack, large clouds of smoke were seen in the densely populated southern part of Beirut. This area is considered the main stronghold of Iran-backed Hezbollah.
