Maharashtra Latest News: Police in Maharashtra’s Thane district have arrested eight Bangladeshi women for staying in India illegally in two separate cases in the district. Officials gave this information on Thursday. Of these, seven women have been arrested in Navi Mumbai. Acting on a tip-off, a team from the NRI police station raided a residential complex in Krave village of Navi Mumbai on Tuesday evening and caught the women living in two rooms there, an official said.
The police station officer said that these women, who worked as domestic help in people’s homes, had entered India illegally and were living in a rented house in this village without any documents. Police said a case has been registered against these women under relevant provisions of the Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1950 and the Foreigners Act. Another officer said that in the second incident, the police on Thursday arrested a Bangladeshi woman living on the basis of fake documents in Ambernath town of the district.
Earlier also 5 Bangladeshi women were arrested
Earlier in the month of August, five Bangladeshi women were arrested from Thane district. There are some slums in Nayanagar and Beverly Park areas of Mira Road in Thane. The police had received information that some Bangladeshi citizens were living here without passport and visa, after which the police laid a trap and arrested three women from Nayanagar and two women from Beverly Park area.
When these women were interrogated, it was revealed that they were originally from Bangladesh and had come to India without any legal process. In this regard, the police registered a case against 3 people at Nayanagar police station and 2 people at Mira Road police station.
