He said Israel was also opening a second corridor for the evacuation of civilians from areas that are the current focus of its military campaign against Hamas, with a coastal road connecting to the area’s main North-South Highway.
Biden had asked to stay for more than three days
Biden also told reporters that during talks to free the people held hostage by Hamas, he had asked the Israelis to desist (from carrying out attacks) for more than three days.
However, Biden had ruled out the possibility of a general ceasefire. Asked if he was disappointed by Netanyahu’s delay in launching the humanitarian pause, he said: “It took a little longer than I expected.”
More than 12 thousand deaths so far
According to Al Jazeera’s report, Israel has launched several attacks on the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank, due to which at least 10 Palestinians have been killed and 16 people have been injured.
The Al-Qassim Brigades, the military wing of the extremist group Hamas, said it was confronting Israeli forces as they tried to advance into Gaza.
On October 7, Hamas suddenly attacked southern Israel, after which the war between the two sides is going on. Israel is continuously conducting airstrikes against Hamas and raids are also being conducted at the ground level through the action of tanks, armored vehicles and infantry.
According to Al Jazeera, at least 10,812 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since the beginning of the war. At the same time, more than 1,400 Israelis have died in Hamas attacks during the same period.
