After activist Manoj Jarange ended his fast demanding reservation for the Maratha community in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the state government is committed to providing reservation to Marathas. The state government will give reservation to the Maratha community, which will pass the legal test in the Supreme Court.
He said that the State Backward Commission has already started work for Maratha reservation. We want to arrange reservation for the Maratha community in such a way that there are no legal hurdles in future. CM Shinde said that whatever flaws there were in the previous Reservation Act, we will rectify them and prepare a better draft.
Speaking to the media in Mumbai, CM Shinde said, “I appeal to all those on hunger strike for Maratha reservation to withdraw their protest. After Jarange’s announcement of withdrawal of his fast, I hope that others will also Will follow it. He said that the unrest and uncertainty in the state should not affect the students going to appear for mid-term exams in the coming days. The CM said, we want to find a solution through dialogue and discussion. I have also spoken to Manoj Jarange. Said the same thing.
