Maharashtra News: The date of Mumbai University Senate elections has been extended. The elections will now be held on 24 September instead of Sunday, 22 September. Bombay High Court heard the case. Mumbai University cited law and order in the city. The court was asked to give two more days of time in view of the atmosphere in the city. The High Court accepted the request of Mumbai University.

The court allowed Mumbai University to extend the Senate elections by two days. Now the Senate elections in Mumbai University will be held on 24 September and the counting of votes will be done on 27 September. Suddenly, a day before the elections, the news of the postponement of the elections came out. It was told that the Senate elections of Mumbai University are being cancelled till further orders.

No reason was given for cancelling the elections. The cancellation of the university’s Senate elections caused outrage among student organisations. Candidates associated with ABVP staged a sit-in protest in the Mumbai University campus. The protesters accused Chief Minister Shinde of putting pressure on them. Shiv Sena UBT also joined the fray. MP Sanjay Raut attacked Chief Minister Shinde and said that the government is scared.

He also alleged that the Senate elections have been cancelled under the pressure of Chief Minister Shinde. The electoral contest is between ABVP and Shiv Sena UBT candidates. Sanjay Raut also took a dig at PM Modi’s One Nation One Election decision. Aditya Thackeray attacked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde He called him a coward. He claimed that the victory of Shiv Sena UBT candidates in the Mumbai University Senate elections was certain.
