New Delhi. Meerut Mavericks won the UP T20 League trophy for the first time by defeating Kanpur Superstars by 5 wickets in the final. Meerut needed 8 runs to win in the last over. Captain Madhav Kaushik gave his team a memorable victory by hitting a six with two balls remaining. Meerut Mavericks had lost in the final last time. Under the captaincy of Rinku Singh, Meerut Mavericks topped the points table and reached the playoffs. After this, Rinku left the team and joined the India B team to play the Duleep Trophy. Despite this, the Meerut team did not let Rinku’s absence be felt and made his dream come true.

Chasing the target of 191 runs set by Kanpur Superstars, Meerut Mavericks scored 196 runs for 5 wickets with 2 balls remaining. Captain Madhav Kaushik played an unbeaten innings of 69 runs in 43 balls while Swastik Chikara was out after scoring 62 runs in 31 balls. Fast bowler Mohsin Khan took the maximum of 2 wickets from Kanpur.
